Network Engineer
Job Description
Top Layer Networks is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Security team.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for maintaining the equipment in
our security lab, which is on a network isolated from the rest of the company,
and performing security testing and other relevant tasks as directed.
This position is available on a contract basis for three months, starting
immediately, with possible extension or conversion to a full time position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities and Duties
- Managing network testing lab;
- Performing automated and manual testing of security products;
- Performing basic security experiments;
- Providing interim technical reports;
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Strong practical knowledge of network protocols and fundamentals;
- Understanding of basic security concepts (e.g. Firewalls)
- Good working knowledge of languages and concepts commonly used in
testing:
o Sockets, perl, python, shell scripting, pcaps
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows 2000/XP and Linux
- Knowledge of one or more of the following a plus:
o Vulnerability assessment tools (CoreSecurity CoreImpact, ImmunitySec
Canvas, Metasploit, Rapid7 Nexpose etc.)
o Reverse engineering tools (IDA pro, olly, soft-ice)
o Cisco* (UBRs, switches, IOS)
o snort, ethereal, libpcap, libnet, tcpdump, nmap
Aptitude, Education, and Experience
- 3 years of experience in Networking and/or Security;
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
