Our client is a well-funded start up in Palo Alto CA. They are building a
storage product and they are looking for a seasoned director of software
development. Job description is below.
Director Of SW:

Experience
* Should have led a multi-level team of at least 25 people
* Must have storage/networking experience. It will be useful to have
detailed experience in one or more of:
Operating Systems
File Systems
I/O
Networking
* Must have delivered at least three generations of product at a single
company
Responsibilities
* Manage and help lead a software organization
* Take full responsibility for delivering products including
Working with architects and marketing to define product features
Working with engineering leaders to define tasks
Assigning tasks to all engineers
Monitoring project task progress
Working with QA, Publications, HW, Support and field organizations
Supporting the product in beta and when it's deployed
* Monitor and tune development processes in consultation with senior
technical leadership. Should scale processes with the size of the
organization and the number and type of customers
* Build out a world class engineering organization by hiring "A" quality
contributors in line with the growth needs of the company. Must persuasively
sell the vision of the company.
* Motivate the team by:
Hiring the right people
Tailoring processes to achieve goals in an effective manner
Delivering product
Extensive and effective communication to understand and address
concerns.
