Position: Security Engineer
Location: Cupertino, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2005-08-20
Apple is seeking an exceptional Security expert to join a world-class
information security team. This is a highly technical hands-on role.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Perform security-related development on internal tools.
- Respond to IT threats and vulnerabilities and bring these issues to
resolution.
- Routinely provide security assessments through the use of vulnerability
scanners and intrusion detection systems.
- Support the global IT Security infrastructure.
- Participate in project meetings and perform security design reviews.
- Research the latest security best practices and keep updated on new threats
and vulnerabilities.
- Provide security consulting to application development teams.
- Perform security technology assessments.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call pager duty rotation.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of hands-on security experience in large enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages (PERL, PHP, Shell).
- Software development experience in Unix, C, and C++.
- Software generalist who can work at all layers.
- Strong ability to multi-task and manage varying priorities.
- Strong communication skills and high attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, quickly develop creative solutions, and
adapt to a fast paced environment.
- Proficient in either Mac OS X or other flavors of UNIX.
- Proficient with firewalls/VPNs, IDS, NIDS/HIDS, protocol analyzers, and
vulnerability scanners.
- Knowledgeable in TCP/IP, IPSEC, VLANs, HTTPS, PPTP, PPP, SSL, SSH, SCP, SFTP,
DNS, SMTP, LDAP, Kerberos.
- Knowledgeable in performing packet analysis or system forensics.
- Knowledgeable in penetration testing, buffer overflows, SQL injections, and
other advanced hacks.
- This position will be required to work nights and on weekends.
Other skills that are not required, but strongly support the role are :
- Knowledgeable in securing operating systems, network devices, and databases.
- Prior experience in performing IT-related investigations.
- CISSP certification.
Position requires a BS in Computer Science or 4+ years of equivalent, hands-on
information security experience in large enterprise environments.
Involvement in open source technologies and development communities such as
Darwin, FreeBSD, SourceForge, etc. is a plus.
