Position: Security Researcher
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2005-08-20
• Operating System knowledge such as Windows NT/XP/2000, Open/Free/NetBSD,
Linux (Multiple distributions) and Solaris.
• Knowledge of common hacking/networking tools, exploit writing,
networking, cryptography, penetration testing, assembler is a required.
• Deep knowledge of the security mailing list/user communities, available
to quickly gain information about new security threats, vulnerabilities,
exploits, and strong ability to identify and implement architectures, tools,
and signatures.
• Working experience in the Information Security field.
• Software testing and evaluation
• Software engineering
• Common forms of malicious code
• Common development methodologies
• Common software failures (e.g. buffer overflows)
• Software development and programming in multiple languages
• System, database, and network administration
• Multiple operating systems
• Common Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, ICMP, DNS, HTTP, etc.).
• Advanced cryptographic theory and practice
• Vulnerability scanning and penetration testing
• The ability to work well under pressure of deadlines

Essential Functions:
• Detailed examination and testing of software looking for new
vulnerabilities.
• Research, specification, and development of new filters, processes and
techniques to protect from the vulnerability.
• Writing and publishing results of the tests.
• Correspondence with software vendors, vulnerability researchers,
sponsors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide assistance and input to other teams and projects within the
organization.
• Monitor resources in the Vulnerability/Security community to stay
abreast of new threats as quickly as they are discovered / reported
• Research newly discovered vulnerabilities to determine a method of
prevention.
• Publish attack advisories and updated organisation filters to alert
customers of high severity vulnerabilities.
• Maintain a database of discovered/researched vulnerabilities, current
product filters, and customer facing descriptions of vulnerabilities.
• Interact with Engineering Team to discuss implementation of
vulnerability protection mechanisms.
• Participate in security related mailing lists to become a subject matter
expert.
