POSITION SUMMARY: This person will be responsible for the Security Architecture definition, adoption and implementation across Systems R&D products and solutions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Contribute to definition of security architectural strategy for all Systems R&D products worldwide, with primary focus upon software development environments/frameworks. • Security strategy should be defined within the concept of a secure Meter to Market solution strategy and a coherent/consistent international User Interface provided to the end user. • An initial focus is to lead the continuing security hardening efforts of our existing System R&D products as well as designing security within the Services Oriented Architecture of the future. • Help manage Technology Watch activities to assess industry technology direction and the implications on security. Derive conclusions on technology impacts and recommend appropriate courses of action. • Work with Marketing to examine the implications of technology trends and security related choices upon market position. • Work with Operations to determine the affect of security related decisions on the cost of implementation and assess feedback from customer installations. • Help formulate and communicate a long term security roadmap that R&D technical leads can buy into and work towards. Work with R&D technical leads to define development directions that implement architectural roadmap. • Support Sales and Operations as required to establish EAI Systems response to customer long term security inquiries. • Participate in industry forums to influence Electric Utility Industry Security Architecture direction. • Interfaces with customers on some technical, project, and business issues. • Provide Sales support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers. May be required to identify potential customers/sales opportunities. • Plays a key role in training/mentoring internal staff. • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Requires Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent or equivalent work experience. • Requires ten (7-10) years software design or development experience in applicable languages and/or databases. • Certifications in SANS & CISSP highly desirable. • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Kerberos, GSSAPI, Web Services, Windows, Linux, .NET, SQL Server technologies, • Excellent programming skills in writing code in C++, VB and Java. • Proven ability to apply software design methodologies. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures. • Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers. • Excellent PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications. • Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals. • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity. • Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs.
