Position: Security Researcher
Location: Redwood City, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Our client, the world leader in internet security, is looking for a talented
Network Security Researcher to work on its network intrusion detection
appliance product team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the
analysis and research of an award winning product.
Targeted Salary: 90K + bonus and options
Duties :
• Research modern network and system protocol standards for Windows and
UNIX environments
• Analyze reported events from various test environments, interact with
network intrusion protection development and the Security Response Team
• Interacting with IT/IS and customers, to understand network
environments, deploy IDS/IPS product into live production environments
• Developing/executing test cases based on experience in the field, use
cases with various test/hacking tools found in the wild
• Reporting test results, research results to all team members from
Response and Product Development
• Coding of modules to implement algorithms or protocols to demonstrate
new concepts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills:
• 3 years of experience on UNIX, Windows,
• Knowledge of open source and commercial IDS systems.
• Experience with IDS signatures,
• Ability to analyze network traffic for malicious content.
• Development & Scripting skills (C, Regex, Perl, C++)
• Good understanding of networking and network protocols
• Excellent problem solving skills; Ability to be action-oriented;
ability to work with minimum supervision and set priorities; good written and
verbal communication skills.
Success Factors :
• This challenging position will require the qualified candidate to
research modern protocols and attack methods presently deployed on the
inter/intranet today
• Take this information and develop code modules and systems implementing
detection, performance enhancements, and evasion resistance
• Also work with QA to implement high quality standards to the QA process
for detection and evasion resistance
• Assist in developing improvements in the design and functionality of
the product
• This position will require the individual be attentive to detail, in a
constant state of learning, customer awareness
• Commitment to quality and the ability to communicate with a
wide-ranging set of people with different skill sets are a must in an, at
times, ambiguous environment.
