Position:       Security Engineer
Location:       Alexandria, , United States

Symantec Security Engineers are responsible for installing, configuring and 
administering firewall, and IDS systems, ensuring all customer devices work and 
are correctly returning data to the MSS Security Operations Center and allowing 
the MSS Security Analysts to monitor customer systems. Each engineer will 
typically be responsible for up to 700 customers and must be proficient in 
multiple products such as Checkpoint, Cisco, Manhunt, Watchguard, Symantec, 
etc. During the performance of their normal duties, the Security Engineer 
(MSS-SE) will configure, implement, maintain, patch and update deployed 
security devices in a global environment. When systems or network faults do 
occur, the MSS-SE will use their expertise and analytical skills to 
troubleshoot device problems and monitor outages while also implementing 
customer change requests in a timely fashion. While providing valuable service 
to Symantec customers, the MSS-SE also has channels of communication available 
and are 
 encouraged to provide feedback for device management practices and engineering 
requirements. This position requires shift work. 
 



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
1-2 years experience as system & network administrator with technical 
background in Windows & Unix operating systems. Linux experience preferred. 
Experience in remote administration of various IT devices. Expertise in server 
and desktop operating systems, including a mixture of Solaris Windows 2000, 
Linux and others. Expertise in administration of basic network services. 
Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols. Understanding of network routing and switching. 
B.A. in tech field or equivalent combination of education, training & work 
experience. Preferred Certifications Completed: MCSE, CCNA 
Excellent communication skills.
