Wireless Security Specialist
Job Description:
This position will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer
and will serve as a deep technical wireless security resource for a dynamic and
fast paced telecommunications operation working on a wide range of wireless and
ISP voice and data service products. The incumbent will be responsible for
providing advice, research support, project management services, and technical
security expertise to product development teams, application administrators and
network operation units. The applicant will assist in the testing, selection,
design, placement, implementation, documentation, operation and maintenance of
various wireless security technologies including authentication mechanisms,
access controls, firewalls, proxy serves, VPN concentrators and wireless access
points. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between the CISO and various
internal constituencies (IT Security, IT Management, Networking),
product/solution vendors, IT Auditors and corporate consultants.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements: Skills/Qualifications:
The applicant must have at least five (5) years professional experience in a
wireless telecommunications IT Security or IT Audit role, and have deep
technical knowledge of wireless information security theory, technologies,
policies and practices. Significant hands on experience designing or managing
CDMA based wireless voice service delivery networks for secure operation is
essential, as is familiarity with security issues related to 1xRTT, EvDO and
various Wi-Fi (802.11(a-i)) data transmission protocols. Experience with
security around Text Messaging, Picture Messaging, SMS, e911, WAP/WML, BREW,
mobile email (POP3, IMAP) and other existing and anticipated 3G related
technologies is also strongly desired. The applicant must feel comfortable
providing security advice to highly skilled, deeply technical, wireless
telecommunications professionals. Good written and verbal communication skills
also required.
Education: Four year college degree in Engineering, Computer Science or another
related technical field.
