SUMMARY 

 The Senior Architect, Security, PacketCable will provide technical direction 
and definition of security protocols for PacketCable and the vendor community. 
Responsibilities include providing technical leadership within the PacketCable 
project for areas for all system security including conceptual architecture 
development, requirements determination, project planning, specification 
writing, test plan development and implementation, and analysis and 
interpretation of test results. 

 The Senior Architect, Security, PacketCable will serve as an individual 
contributor, advisor, and technical project lead. The individual will also 
manage development projects, including internal company staff liaisons and 
interactions with member companies and vendors. This position will require 
participation in standards activities and presenting contributions on 
issues of interest to the cable industry. 

FUNCTIONS 

• Manage one or more vendor teams within the project to develop and extend 
the PacketCable security specification as needed to meet the architectural 
objectives of the project. Manage specification development projects, make 
written contributions to Technical Reports and Specifications, assist in the 
management of conference calls, review and assess vendor written contributions, 
prepare presentations summarizing technical work. 
• Support the ongoing PacketCable compliance testing program by assisting 
in the 
development of test plans and procedures for all security interfaces. Manage a 
vendor team within the project to develop software tools and implement test 
cases for PacketCable Product Testing. 
• Develop relationships with key vendor and member representatives to 
assist in meeting these objectives. 
• Coordinate all security developments and extensions with other subject 
matter experts and project managers within the PacketCable project and among 
other Company departments. 
• Proactively identify the key areas of existing and emerging security 
technology of interest to PacketCable, and analyze feature, cost, and time to 
market requirements. 
• Expand activities into other areas of the cable infrastructure as it 
relates to PacketCable including: OpenCable [conditional access, POD 
encryption, DRM, etc.], DOCSIS [BPI+ 
security], and CableHome [authentication of devices on home networks]. 
• Act as directed by the Director, PacketCable Architecture, as staff 
liaison to the company and external industry initiatives with respect to 
security approaches and debate within IP telephony industry. Participate in the 
dissemination of the strategy, progress, and results of 
the security architecture to the general public via presentations at industry 
events. 


• Perform other duties as assigned.
