Position: Security Engineer
Location: East Hartford, Connecticut, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2005-07-10
The primary responsibility is to engineer, validate and deploy advanced or
complex security solutions as part of a security project. These
responsibilities include meeting client timelines and client expectations. The
PSE needs to be technically adept and professional with excellent customer
service and communication skills. The PSE will report directly to the
Professional Services Manager.
Other responsibilities include professional development and certification,
mentoring and training engineers and improving overall customer relations
through technical delivery and communications skills.
Lead, mentor, knowledge transfer and project management
· Technical lead for projects requiring senior-level security
engineering
· Transitioning projects to support from professional services
· Mentor new employees through their induction process
· Mentoring of engineers in all technologies supported or used by The
Company
· Knowledge transfer to Engineers and Clients to the Company's
technologies
· Lab simulation for client issues
· Lab scheduling and Training for engineers
· Documenting client projects
Self Improvement
· Professional training - Continual development of technical and
interpersonal skills through training and certification programs. CCSA, CCSE,
NSA mandatory.
· Improvement of technical, communications, project management and
interpersonal skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

General Qualifications
· Ability to travel and work flexible hours.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong Time-management skills.
· Excellent fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP-based networking.
· Excellent understanding of network and host security fundamentals and
design principles.
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Experience Requirements
· 4+ years experience installing, configuring, and engineering
Checkpoint security solutions.
· 5+ years TCP/IP Networking experience.
· Hands-on experience with advanced TCP/IP, security concepts, WAN and
LAN concepts, Routing Protocols, Firewall Security policies, IPSec VPN
technology, PKI, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention concepts.
· Hands-on experience with UNIX-like operating systems, and Microsoft
operating systems.
· Hands-on experience with industry leading security vendor platforms,
including products from Checkpoint, Cisco, RSA (ACE/Server), ISS, Cisco IDS
· Hands-on experience with industry leading network management
platforms.
· Practical experience with process management and customer service
processes and issues.
· Must have strong PC and office automation skills in Linux or Microsoft
environment.
Educational / Work Requirements
Mandatory:
· Bachelors Degree in Computer Technology or equivalent work experience.
· Checkpoint CCSA certification or significant security Checkpoint
helpdesk work experience.
· Checkpoint CCSE certification or significant security Checkpoint
helpdesk work experience.
Desireable:
· Cisco CCNA or above certification or equivalent work experience is
highly desireable
· Nokia Certification
