Position: Security Engineer
Location: Alexandria, Virginia, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 06/30/2005
The position is responsible for the daily operation, administration and
security of the network, including maintaining reliability, performance, and
availability environment.
The role will perform a flexible 40 hours work week due to the nature of the
function at one central location. Minimal travel may be required.
The engineer will be required to design and implement security
policies/procedures for network operating systems as well as to document and
implement security best practices on an ongoing basis.
The Engineer will also be required to participate in R&D of new designs and
technologies, assess/monitor/reduce vulnerabilities of the network and upgraded
system hardware/software.
This individual will be a member of the Security Services Team and will be
reporting to the Security Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities:
• Ensure the data confidentiality, integrity and availability
• Intrusion detection
• Intrusion prevention
• Incident response
• Provide fast, real-time network intrusion response
• Security compliance
• Perform audit tracking and management reporting
• Provide effective network domain security design and management
• Test and implement strategic security technology
• Configure and Maintain Desktop and Server security software ( Malware ,
Anti-Virus, Firewall , Patch Management , VPN etc )
• Manage Intrusion prevention and detection systems service provided by
Symantec
• Monitor and assess network systems vulnerabilities
• Ensure the reliability, availability of the network
• Develop and maintain a good image of company with customers
• Develop and recommend strategies that will increase reliability,
availability, and uptime
• Document current and future security policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
• Experience with IDS/IPS required
• Three or more years experience in an enterprise Windows NT/2000/2003
based environment
• Two or more years experience in designing and implementing security in
a Windows base network
• Two or more years of experience in a WAN environment
• Knowledge of security monitoring, tracking and scanning tools required
• BSCS or equivalent experience
• Windows 2000 or 2003 security discipline.
• Familiar with Data Center Operations or Network Operations Center
environments
• Prior experience in process improvement initiatives a plus
• Previous experience assessing and developing policies
• A proven team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Security Qualifications a plus
