Position: VP / Dir / Mgr engineering
Location: Redwood City, California, US
Type: Permanent F/T

Excellent Opportunity with a well funded start-up seeking to add an experienced
VP of Engineering. Being a Systems hardware/network security company, a
background in NETWORKING, ENTERPRISE DATACOM, and SECURITY APPLIANCE (box) is
critical. The VP must define, implement and drive a comprehensive product
development strategy as well as build and manage the engineering team. The VP
will direct the product development efforts and have ultimate responsibility
for successful product delivery. Successful candidate will direct the on-going
development of the company’s hardware and software products with Best
Practice Software Development Methodologies, offshore/outsourced development
practices and strong project management skills. As part of the executive
management team, the VP will be involved in technical strategies and business
decisions relating to the short-term operations of the company, as well as its
long-term direction and planning. Reports to the CEO. We are looking f
or an intelligent, energetic and professional executive with a positive
attitude, strong work ethic, the ability to create trust and the capacity to
make meaningful and measurable contributions to the company's growth and
success.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
· Must have NETWORK background.
· Must have ENTERPRISE DATACOM experience.
· Must have SECURITY APPLIANCE (box) experience.
· BS degree in CS or equivalent, MS or PHD degree preferred.
· Must have 10+ years experience in HW and SW (Systems) development
management.
· Must have prior experience as a senior manager (VP Level)
· Must have track record of leadership and experience as a motivator and
for growing a development organization.
· Must have domain expertise in networking, security and management
frameworks.
· Must have a proven track record in delivery of shipping hardware and
software products.
· Must have experience managing and leading small, elite and fast moving
engineering groups.
· Must have experience budgeting for a development organization.
· Must have experience hiring high caliber engineers.
· Must have strong project orientation. * Must have attention to detail
and a commitment to quality.
· Must have excellent written & oral communication skills.
· Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Must have a strong team orientation to match the company culture.
· Must have a proven ability in a small company environment to
establish, grow and maintain a significant engineering service organization
that provides full range of design, development and support services in the
technical environment described above.
