Position: Sales Engineer
Location: Chicago, Illinois, US
Type: Permanent F/T

Overview of responsibilities:
* Support account activities throughout midwest.
* Give both high-level and detailed technical presentations to a variety of
customer personnel, from senior executives to individual technical contributors.
* Be familiar with current trends in the security space: new products &
technologies methodologies for security design and architecture regulatory
and compliance implications for businesses.
* Perform post-sales account maintenance via executive and technical reviews.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

* very strong security product experience across a variety of platform types:
firewalls NIDS NIPS HIDS HIPS
* security audit experience with common server platforms: Microsoft, Solaris,
Linux
* enterprise networking experience: familiar with general network design and
traffic management issues
* outstanding presentation and relationship-building skills
* security certifications, either generalist or vendor-specific, strongly
desired. Bachelor's degree preferred
* able to work without frequent direct supervision -- small company successes
and references strongly desired
Counterpane is looking for a senior Systems Engineer in the midwest. The
successful candidate will be based in Chicagoland, have significant recent
experience in multiple enterprise-class security platforms, and have superb
communications and presentation skills compatible with everyone from a junior
network admin to a C-level executive. Counterpane SEs tend to be the closers
in most enterprise sales situations the success of the proposal often hinges
on the confidence the customer has in our technical competence, and it is
incumbent upon the SE to present a strong case. You will be expected to
cultivate a sizable network of technical contacts across the current and
prospective customer base and provide your assessment of account health. You
will be given a list of named accounts to inherit upon completion of training,
and you will begin active work with Account Executives immediately in pursuit
of new business.
