Department of Education Office of Inspector General is seeking IT Auditors, 
Seniors, and Managers  Federal FT positions in Washington DC


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Positions located in the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Inspector 
General (OIG), Systems Internal Audit Team.  The Team conducts audits of 
internal Departmental systems, assessment of information technology 
developments, and conducts general and application control reviews, 

Incumbents participate in audit programs to evaluate the efficiency and 
effectiveness of information technology.  Assignments include all phases of 
large scale and complex IT related audits.  The incumbent applies a 
comprehensive knowledge of information technology practices, including IT 
investment management, IT architecture, systems design, systems development and 
procurement, systems operations, information security, and the IT regulatory 
environment.  

It Auditors participate on or lead a team that performs audits of greater than 
average difficulty and is responsible for applying a professional knowledge of 
government auditing standards.  The incumbent must also be able to apply an 
understanding of business strategies and plans  federal laws, regulations and 
program guidelines  and industry operating practices to the planning, 
budgeting, and performance of audits, assessment of the risk of fraud and 
abuse, and the preparation of effective recommendations.  

Seniors and Managers perform audits and carry out other activities in 
connection with Education Department organizations and program participants.  
However, based on the incumbent's expertise in IT auditing, he/she typically 
conducts, coordinates, and integrates audits of exceptional complexity, which 
have undefined boundaries and can expand to and across nationwide and 
organizational components.  In addition, the incumbent participates in the 
development of annual audit plans and in longer-range planning for the audit 
program.  The incumbent also develops work systems and methods to effectively 
speed the conduct of audits and analysis work.
