Senior Software Developer
The Cyber Security Group seeks to hire dynamic individuals with strong
credentials and experience in cyber security research. This position will be
responsible for the design and implementation of applications from formal
requirements and architectural specifications to delivery of commercial grade
applications.
Cyber Security is one of the most challenging and exciting work environments in
the Laboratory. The incumbent will have a unique opportunity to be part of a
growing team focused on challenges that range from basic science to technology
insertion.
The environment is highly challenging and complex. Expertise is required to
develop technical solutions for client needs including: information operations
and analysis related to national security topics intrusion analysis, systems &
vulnerabilities, network security, advanced analytic tools, and data
visualization techniques.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Level 3: A Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years experience or a Master's
degree with 3 years experience or a Ph.D. with 1-2 years experience is
required. Must be a skilled professional who applies a broad basis of existing
theories, principles, and concepts to a specialty field.
Level 4: A Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years experience or a Master's
degree with 5 years experience or a Ph.D. with 3 years is required. Must be a
technical expert who selects and widely applies principles, theories and
concepts in a major field of specialization.
A MS degree is preferred. Discipline should be in computer science, computer
engineering or electrical engineering. Other engineering or math degrees will
be considered for exceptional candidates. Preference will be given to
candidates with cyber security experience and/or certification in one or more
of the following:
1.) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
2.) SANS Global Incident Analysis Center (GIAC) certification
3.) Certified Information Systems Auditor
4.) Other Certifications such as CNSS Information Security Professional CNSS,
Information Systems Security Officer, CNSS: Designated Approving Authority,
CNSS, Systems Certifier, and CNSS: Administration in Information Systems
Security may be considered.
Must be able to learn quickly and demonstrate how his/her contributions will
make our organization better. Past successful candidates have had strong
personal (hobby) interest in computers and programming as well as academic
training.
CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO OBTAIN A FUTURE "Q" CLEARANCE OR
REINSTABLE RIGHTS TO A "Q" CLEARANCE.
Must have demonstrated in-depth background in software development using C++,
.NET / C#. Should be a master level C++ developer with a least 5 years
experience in producing commercial quality code for Microsoft Windows and
Linux. Must have all skills necessary to produce proof-of-concept prototypes
through production quality code. Must have experience with distributed
networked applications, (Win Sockets/3 tiered client server model) and should
be familiar with development of STL and MFC/ATL based applications. Initiative
and problem solving skills are highly valued. The environment is team-oriented
where complementary skills are enhanced through team work. Must have proven
ability to work independently or with multidisciplinary teams of 3-5 people.
Experience with cyber security applications, device driver programming, and/or
kernel programming is a plus.
