This position is primarily accountable for leading teams and individual contribution for research and development projects in the network technology domain. The environment is highly challenging and complex. The scope of investigation include: design of secure networks, communication and telecommunication systems. Challenges include mapping the incumbents in depth understanding of existing network protocols, hardware and IOS's to investigation of new, secure, robust network protocols, and or internetworking systems A passion for understanding the state of the art of complex, highly interconnected network systems, systems operation and ideas for advancing the state of the art are essential. Cyber Security is one of the most challenging and exciting work environments in the Laboratory. The incumbent will have a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team focused on challenges that range from basic science to technology insertion. The environment is highly challenging and complex. Expertise is required to develop technical solutions for client needs including: information operations and analysis related to national security topics intrusion analysis, systems & vulnerabilities, network security, advanced analytic tools, and data visualization techniques. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Level 3: A Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years experience or a Master's degree with 3 years experience or a Ph.D. with 1-2 years experience is required. Must be a skilled professional who applies a broad basis of existing theories, principles, and concepts to a specialty field. Level 4: A Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years experience or a Master's degree with 5 years experience or a Ph.D. with 3 years is required. Must be a technical expert who selects and widely applies principles, theories and concepts in a major field of specialization. A MS is preferred and BS degree is required in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering. Other engineering or math degrees will be considered for exceptional candidates. Preference will be given to candidates with cyber security experience and/or certification in one or more of the following: 1.) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) 2.) SANS Global Incident Analysis Center (GIAC) certification 3.) Certified Information Systems Auditor 4.) Other Certifications such as CNSS Information Security Professional CNSS, Information Systems Security Officer, CNSS: Designated Approving Authority, CNSS, Systems Certifier, and CNSS: Administration in Information Systems Security may be considered. REQUIRES A CURRENT DOD TS OR DOE Q AND SCI CLEARANCES OR REINSTATABLE RIGHTS FOR SUCH CLEARANCES. Practical experience or course work in physics is helpful. Knowledge of network monitoring, testing, installation, maintenance and configuration management of computer network and distributed computing systems is desired. Will be expected to lead, direct, and participate in medium to large (3 to 12 person) research, engineering, and development teams. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical information and instructions to non-technical staff and managers is essential. Should have excellent written, spoken, and presentation skills. Must be able to demonstrate very mature project and fiscal management skills and methods.
