Position:       Security Engineer
Location:       San Bruno, California, US
Type:           Permanent F/T

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

The Gap IT Security Engineers work closely with application development, 
networking, and operations groups across the Gap enterprise to ensure that new 
and existing applications are implemented in a manner that assures protection 
of Gap’s information assets. The Security Engineering team provides 
research, expert advice and direction on security technologies throughout the 
Gap enterprise. The Engineering team works to ensure that Gap, Inc. IT 
networks, systems, and application projects are designed and implemented 
according to Gap, Inc., IT Security Policies, Standards, and Procedures. 
Works with client and IT staffs on projects during development phases, to 
provide IT Security consulting and recommendations. 
Works closely with the IT Security architect, to ensure Gap security 
architecture standards are followed on IT security projects. 
Works with IT Security product vendors and service providers, to evaluate 
potential security offerings, including product evaluations, pilots and proof 
of concept installations. 



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ARE:

3-5 years of experience in IT Security, including experience with encryption, 
intrusion detection, network security, multiple operating systems (Windows, 
UNIX, Linux, etc.), and directory services. 
Broad IT experience providing an understanding of issues that impact IT 
security, such as networking, messaging systems, directory services, database 
management tools, major applications such as MS Office suite, PeopleSoft, etc. 
CISSP or CISM preferred. 
Strong written communications and presentation skills. 
Good project management skills. 
The ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing priorities and situations. 
The ability to balance priorities from multiple clients. 
Experience in project planning, estimating, and resource allocations. 
Detail oriented, but with the ability to understand how details may affect the 
“big picture”. 
Experience with multi-national large-scale enterprises.
