Position: Security Engineer
Location: Irvine, California, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 05/26/2005
VitalStream is seeking an experienced security expert to develop and implement
a comprehensive IT security strategy. Years of experience, creativity and
understanding of industry best practice is essential. He/she will work closely
with system administrators, network engineers and software developers to ensure
all potential avenues of intrusion are minimized and eliminated.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Experience with the management of IT and network implementation projects
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience configuring firewall and VPN products such as Cisco PIX
and/or Netscreen
- Experience with security auditing software such as nmap, nessus, ISS or
Retina
- Experience with IDS tools such as snort, tripwire or similar packages
- Expert understanding of packets structure at several levels such as
Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP/ICMP
- Experience with using sniffers to analyze denial of service attacks and
viruses
- Expert understanding of basic internet routing architectures
- Expert understanding of methods for locking down Windows 2003 and Linux
- Expert understanding of the methods and tools used by modern hackers,
viruses and worms
- Familiarity with incorporating security into multi-tier
software/database architectures
- Familiarity with writing simple scripts or tools in perl, vbscript or
C# is highly desirable
