The company is lead by top management with a proven track record for delivering world-class product as well as leading their last two companies to successful IPO’s. Funding: The company has been through Series B round of funding for $10 million. This funding should last throughout the remainder of 2005 and well into 2006, considering their offshore development model. Of the financing raised thus far, $15 million of the total of $20 million remains in the bank. Funding for the next round is being considered, but is not an issue for their lead VC firm. The lead VC have given their full endorsement for their next round of financing. In addition, to this the executives are lining up additional VC as a backup and to make sure they are not leveraging the equity of the company. Product: The company’s tag line is: “We are developing a revolutionary product that will enable enterprises to deploy cost-effective and scalable security that is pervasively embedded in the fabric of the enterprise.” They are basically building an enterprise network security appliance. This is a network security device that will be more sophisticated, faster with higher throughput (wire speed). This is a $30 billion dollar market. The current stage of the product is beyond an idea, but there is still adequate time for the architect to take what exist and define the new direction. Technology: They are using C++, Linux and off the shelf hardware. They have not quite decided on the network processor, but are leaning towards Intel. Their product would be very similar to a product marriage between Cisco and NetScreen. This is not like the McAfee product that is more perimeter and gateway. This addresses a lot of new challenges, cutting edge work integrated enterprise security and switching. They will offer a family of products that range from access to core, internal detection and vulnerability assessment to protect from worm type viruses to internal and external intrusions. They revenue will sell via multiple channels: · Partner with Nortel, Alcatel, Juniper, etc · Large service organizations like EDS and IBM Global Services · Direct Sales · OEM Product launched is schedule for the end of spring next year. Group: This is part of the CTO Group which contains 2 Principal Scientist: 1 focused on Event Correlation/Worm Detection and the other focused on Encryption and Vulnerability, 3-4 Architects: Routing and High Availability Event Correlation Architect, 1 - TBD. This CTO group is supported by a larger security team that is being built here in the Santa Clara Hqtr's. This group will be headed up by the Director of Engineering who has high level design engineers that focus on 1) Intrusion Detection and Prevention 2) Security Engineer focused on either Firewall or Authentication 3) IDS Signature Research Engineer. The CTO's group is focused on research and architecture. They work on a variety of network security areas including: event correlation, worm containment, IPS/IDS, encryption, application penetration as well as security network traffic anomaly detection, etc. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Position: Anomaly Detection Scientist Position involves research and development in algorithms and parameter setting to support a very high speed network security product. Employer supports publication of research following appropriate intellectual property protection.
