Position: Security Architect
Location: Bethesda, Maryland, US
Type: Permanent P/T
Closing Date: 05/19/2005
The Data SECURITY Architect II assists in the monitoring, analysis, design,
deployment and programming of SECURITY systems required to protect designated
computer programs, databases, and data files from unauthorized or accidental
disclosure, duplication, modification, or destruction.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
°Identify SECURITY exposures/weaknesses in existing automated systems and
research solutions for strengthening SECURITY.
°Assist in analyzing the capabilities of existing and new SECURITY products
and systems and, when necessary, assist in the design, development, coding and
testing of SECURITY programs.
°Assist in the configuration and installation of SECURITY products.
°Develop and propose means to decrease vulnerability of systems. Ensure
maximum utilization of computer hardware and software features designed to
secure automated systems and associated databases.
°Assist in the analysis and design of enhancements to existing SECURITY
products. Where possible, automate manual operational activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (cont.)
°Provide data SECURITY recommendations to personnel regarding communication
networks, physical SECURITY, data access, computer hardware and software, and
data confidentiality.
°Develop, generate, and maintain reports designed to monitor data SECURITY
related activities.
°Maintain a continuing knowledge of existing and proposed state and federal
legislation and regulatory laws pertaining to information system SECURITY and
privacy.
°Maintain familiarity with state-of-the-art concepts, procedures, software,
and techniques in data SECURITY in order to ensure the adequacy and reliability
of data SECURITY within the organization.
°Provide general support to the department in carrying out its assigned
functions and responsibilities.
°Coordinator of SECURITY incident response activities between DS and IS
groups and any outside vendors (Internet Service Provider, Managed Service
Provide, ASP)
°Provide technical support for all existing SECURITY systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

3 years related experience, preferably in Information Security, Security
Administration, or Security auditing
Knowledge of security in MS, UNIX and networking infrastructure
Firewall configuration, network intrusion detection and prevention, penetration
testing, vulnerability analysis, and incident response/investigation
Strong interpersonal communication skills
