Great opportunity for an experienced Network Security Engineer/ Architect to 
join Abbott's Border Network Services Team. 

Primary responsibilities include: Evaluate, plan, design, and support 
Abbott’s network security, remote access, and border network 
infrastructure. Coordinate and assist internal customers on the design and 
implementation of new 3rd party/business partner connections based on security 
requirements, project schedules, applications, and security standards. 
Participate on Abbott’s security committees in order to determine new 
requests’ compliance to policy. Partner with Abbott’s information 
security organization in conducting security assessments and vulnerability 
assessments to verify policies are maintained. Analyze and recommend new 
network security technologies for use at Abbott and create new design 
architectures based upon those recommendations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Technical -- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing/bridging protocols 
(including OSPF, BGP, and Cisco router implementations utilizing NAT), and Sun 
Solaris/Linux/Windows system administration is required. Candidate must have 
extensive experience deploying and managing Symantec firewalls, Checkpoint 
firewalls, and ISS Intrusion Detection Systems. Experience supporting large 
volume Internet access points (100+ Mbps, 10,000+ clients, and 20+ firewalls) 
is highly preferred. Practical Experience configuring and managing large VPN 
infrastructure deployments (1000+ clients) is required -- Cisco 3xxx series 
knowledge highly preferred. Experience in configuring, managing, and supporting 
VPN technology on Windows clients is required. Experience in designing and 
managing two-factor authentication environments is highly preferred. 

Non-Technical – Customer service orientation with strong verbal and 
written communication skills is required. Candidate must demonstrate ability to 
negotiate and reach consensus using positive and effective means. Candidate 
must demonstrate ability to use active listening skills and achieve compromise 
even when faced with a non-optimal result. Project management experience is 
highly preferred. Candidate must have strong problem solving skills and 
aptitude for learning and assimilating new technologies. Candidate should be 
expected to travel up to 15%, both domestic and international.

BS in IS/Computer Science/Engineering or 6-10 years equivalent work experience 
required. MS in IS/Computer Science/Engineering preferred.
