Security Practice Director 

Please note: Strong Software Development Lifecycle Engineering (with 
Java/J2EE/C++) Background Required

Position Location: Reston, VA

Position Type: Regular, Full-Time Employee

Position Reports to:  Chief Operating Officer

Position Description:

The position of Security Practice Director is an interesting and collaborative 
combination of consulting and software security engineering. 

This position requires a balanced mix of leadership skills and organized 
abilities. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to use their 
management as well as direct client consulting skills and experience. 

The Practice Director will be accountable for successful project delivery, 
profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee management.

You will be responsible for providing client support from account planning 
through sales, delivery, execution and customer care satisfaction cycle. 

The Practice Director must balance outstanding client services with effective 
optimization or resource utilization. You'll develop strong and lasting 
relationships with clients, effectively sell follow-on work to clients, assist 
sales in selling new business to clients, and serve as an effective escalation 
point for client issues and problems on engagements.

The Practice Director will provide motivation and guidance to a seasoned team 
of Software Security Engineers and Consultants located primarily at client 
sites. He/she will provide guidance and mentor employees and may act as the 
technical or functional lead on an engagement. 

The Practice Director will select, build and lead a great team that will enable 
the individual to retain and ensure client satisfaction. He/she will not only 
apply the   risk management methodology and methods on projects, he/she will 
also lead team members on their use. 

You'll oversee the accuracy, completeness, and compliance (to internal and 
external expectations) of the project deliverables if no project manager is 
assigned and will oversee this effort when one is assigned. 

You'll be responsible for the:
· Management of P&L
· Score containment
· Customer satisfaction
· Identification of up-sell opportunities and support actions
· Ensuring everyone takes on their responsibilities and support 
objectives
· Managing dependencies and risk
· Communications and scheduling



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Qualifications and Experience:

· Leadership experience in managing a team of Software Security 
Engineers and Consultants

· Capability to undertake and complete tasks independently

· Demonstrated experience in managing and executing projects consistently

· Significant software development lifecycle experience developing, 
deploying and maintaining software systems, 7+ years, preferably applying 
security activities within the SDLC (familiarity with security standards - e.g. 
SSE-CMM, NIST SP 800-30, ISO 15408, HIPAA)

· Work experience in a wide number of operational environments and a 
deep understanding of software development processes, technologies, 
architectures, and practices.

· 5-10 years of consulting experience, preferably with a security or 
information assurance related projects

· Work experience demonstrating knowledge of software design, risk 
analysis, application security architectures, and software security

· Familiar with a range of technologies, including J2EE platform, .Net 
platform, middleware products (e.g. Websphere), and smartcards

· Excellent written, verbal and communication skills

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, EE, Mathematics or 
Software Engineering is required  Masters or PhD preferred

· Technology (e.g. Java) and/or security (e.g. CISSP) certifications to 
demonstrate domain knowledge

Other considerations:

· U.S. Citizenship
· Security clearance desired (not required)
· Publications (white papers, books, etc.)
· Willingness to travel approximately 40%
