The fast evolution of the Internet and the multiplication of access media 
(xDSL, FTTx, 802.11, 802.16, UMTS, etc) has brought new challenges in terms of 
manageability, flexibility and security on the network to be able to provide 
conversational services and data
services on transparent and converged fashion.
The job position is in the frame of the IP access and the security to tackle 
these new challenges for a global carrier.  

The IP network architect is responsible for, or contributes to the following 
activities:
- Study of innovative architecture for IP access and security
- Analysis of the north America market in terms of IP access and security 
solutions for a global telecom carrier
- Establishment/maintenance of a selection criteria grid for network solutions 
and manufacturers
- Selection of solutions for lab evaluation
- Lab evaluation of the selected platforms
- Definition of the test strategy and development of testing tools
- Collaboration with international teams in the frame of operational projects

Minimum requirements
- Be capable to acquire rapidly the state of the art, the active players 
(including the university world) and the main stakes, through reports and 
analysis
- Familiarity with IP networks (architecture and protocols) and hands-on 
knowledge of IP equipments
- Knowledge of security typology and implementation
- Knowledge of software platform tests methodology (stand alone tests, 
end-to-end integration tests, etc)
- Good communication and teamwork skills within a dynamic environment

Knowledge of the telecommunications sector is essential, as the integration of 
innovative technologies and the marketing can rapidly change in emerging 
telecommunications solutions. This position requires strong win-win 
relationships with technical experts and
development engineers from the North America manufacturers.

Responsibilities
- Networks solutions requirements definition, network solutions analysis and 
evaluation including proofs of concept (50%)
- Technology Research including relationships with universities (20%)
- Internal/ external communications (30%)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
- MS preferred, but BS required in EE or CS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications sector (R&D, 
consulting, design, support…)
- Strong desire to understand the theory underlying the topic studied, and 
share this understanding
- Ability to communicate R&D results to clients, partners and colleagues is 
critical
- Self-starter who is highly organized, learns quickly, and is a team player.
- Technical skills for IP based networking:
- L2-L7 security mechanisms in IP network
- 3GPP and DSL forum architectures
- General knowledge of IP routing protocols
- Network access and session control mechanisms (PPPoX, 802.1X, DHCP, 
Radius,DIAMETER, SIP, etc)
- IP network security attacks (snooping, jamming, wormhole, resource 
consumption, session hijacking, DDoS, etc)
- Hands-on experience on network equipment setup and test
