Group Objective:
The Internal Audit Department (IAD) is seeking a candidate for a Manager/Senior
Manager position on the IAD Technology Infrastructure & Security Team. This
individual will be responsible for managing audit coverage of security, system,
and network (voice and data) processes and controls for both mainframe and
distributed environments.
Position Responsibilities:
This individual contributor position will be responsible for obtaining in-depth
knowledge of the Schwab systems, network infrastructure, underlying
technologies which support that infrastructure, and security controls that
safeguard customer data . The key responsibilities of this individual will be
to examine the effectiveness of mainframe and distributed security (network,
server, database, application, and physical) controls throughout the firm and
affiliates and to develop and manage strong relationships with technology
counterparts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for this position, the prospective candidate must have strong
communication (both written and oral), negotiation, organization, project
management, and analytical skills. This position requires extensive report
writing and documentation. The candidate should have at least 10 years of
experience focused on information systems audit or an equivalent breadth of
experience in information security, systems, and network technology. The
candidate must have strong technical skills in order to effectively assess risk
and evaluate security controls in a multi-platform distributed and mainframe
environment. A focused technical background in a number of the following
technologies is desirable: Windows, UNIX (Solaris, AIX, LINUX), TCP/IP,
Oracle, DB2, TSO, IMS, CICS, routers, switches, voice technology, TOP Secret,
RACF, intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessment. Prior systems
administration and network engineering experience is highly desirable.
Key factors for success in this role include:
- Strong mainframe and distributed information security skills
- Communication Skills - this role requires extensive documentation and
executive level report writing as well as strong verbal communication skills
- Self-starter that has strong negotiation, organization, relationship, and
analytical abilities
Note: Will determine if candidate is qualified for a Manager or Senior Manager
position based on security expertise and leadership abilities. A lab is being
built in Phoenix to monitor security events by performing intrusion detection
and vulnerability scans against the network. It would be perferable to have a
local resource to manage and monitor lab activities however, would consider a
candidate outside of the Phoenix facility.
