Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Business Continuity Planning, assist in the 
management and delivery of an enterprise-wide business continuity planning 
initiative. Work as a liaison between systems and users to facilitate the 
development of documented business resumption plans, disaster recovery 
initiatives, and internal and external testing schedules. 
Job Responsibilities
1.      Assist the Manager of Business Continuity Planning in achieving the 
following:  
2.      Continually identify and assess the catastrophic events which could 
disrupt the organization.
3.      Construct and maintain a risk analysis matrix. 
4.      Create and maintain a comprehensive plan for business recovery for the 
healthcare network, documenting all necessary steps from event detection to 
business resumption. 
5.      Work closely with all operational departments (e.g. clinical, 
financial, administrative, etc.) to understand business continuity needs and 
capabilities. 
6.      Establish and enforce standards for all departments such that they have 
documented policies and procedures for resuming functions if unexpected 
catastrophic events occur, including the loss of their underlying information 
systems. 
7.      Provide advisory or consulting services to departments as they develop 
their continuity policies and procedures. 
8.      Work closely with the Information Services organization to understand 
the systems and applications used to support the departments. 
9.      Create and maintain a systems priority matrix detailing recovery time 
and recovery point objectives for all production systems and work with all 
areas on establishing documented Service Level Agreements (SLAs). 
10.     Ensure that all systems have documented backup and recovery plans and 
that a regular schedule of internal and/or external recovery testing is 
performed by IS and/or the departments. 
11.     Coordinate with the change control groups for both systems such that 
business recovery is accounted for in all planning discussions and processes 
remain in a validated state. 
12.     Identify key business continuity planning, design, implementation, and 
testing points and deliverables within the organization. 
13.     Interface with internal and external auditors with appropriate 
information regarding Business Continuity capabilities. 
14.     Publish regular status updates to management and immediately escalate 
significant risks to the organization.



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Required Licenses / certificates / registrations        Not required, but a 
plus:  Professional affiliations such as Association of Contingency Planners 
(ACP), Uptime Institute or Business Continuity Institute.
Required Education and Experience       2-4 years of background in BCP/DR 
and/or Information Technology Infrastructure (e.g. help desk, data center, 
systems, etc.)
Additional Technical Requirements       •  Experience in BCP/DR concepts 
and execution 
•  Healthcare background or experience a plus 
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills 
•  Well organized and able to multi-task 
•  Experience in working with a variety of groups and skill sets
•  Reasonable knowledge and experience with information system 
capabilities and infrastructure
