--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Security Product Manager Location: Santa Clara, California, US Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 04/24/2005 IDS/IPS Content Senior Product Manager Major Responsibilities - Function as lead product manager for the Network & Gateway Solutions group content (i.e. IDS/IPS signatures, generic exploit blocking scripts, etc.) by ensuring the success of existing projects currently underway, routinely measuring performance, and leading new efforts to improve NGS products and operations. - Provide intrusion detection / intrusion prevention domain expertise on an ongoing basis to organization while maintaining a technical understanding of a broad range of security solutions. - Understand, research and recommend leading threat detection, protection and repair functionality working with product teams. - Participate in cross-functional meetings with IPS product teams to plan, contribute to strategy and monitor product plans. - Assist in mapping, validating and determining feasibility of content solutions as defined by product and cross-functional teams - Drive product teams to understand value and importance of threat intelligence and insight -Provide ongoing sales tools and support to communicate the value, capabilities and differentiation. - Create and or drive creation of sales tools, white papers and other collateral - Execute the security outbreak communications / management process on a rotating basis with other team members - Assist or lead testing initiatives with 3rd parties such as trade publications and independent labs to assess and improve NGS content breadth, depth and timeliness - Perform competitive analysis of other companies’ response and content solutions (esp. IDS/IPS) that result in product team briefings/recommendations as well as sales tools/briefings - Conduct speaking engagements and handle PR requests representing the security research organization particularly regarding new attacks and vulnerabilities JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Position Requirements and Education: Two to four years of product management experience delivering enterprise software solutions is required. Experience in the security industry required, experience with IDS/IPS solutions heavily preferred BA/BS degree or equivalent. MBA a plus.
