Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: San Francisco, California, US
Type: Permanent F/T

Sr. Server Engineer
• Act as one of two team experts on Ethernet and IP packet-level
technical knowledge, particularly as it relates to traffic flow/filtering,
secure communications, and preferably, network based attack methods.
• Co-ownership of one or more functional areas of the core server and
ancillary server-side components, including architecture, design,
implementation, unit testing and bugfixing (all but formal testing) of the new
product line as it relates to fine-detailed traffic injection, traffic
listening and analysis, simulation of network-based attacks, as well as secure
communications between the distributed component executables which make up the
product.
• Technical documentation (architecture, design and implementation) of
owned areas.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

• (Strong) Must have industry-based development experience and solid
knowledge in packet level details of Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, and ICMP
protocols, layer 7 TCP/IP application protocols (Telnet, SSH, HTTP, FTP, STFP,
TFTP), libpcap-based sniffers (TCPDUMP, Ethereal, net monitor, network general,
etc.).
• Must have at least 5 years industry experience as a software product
developer in enterprise-class software or network hardware companies.
• Must have full lifecycle experience, from product requirements
refinement to final shipping software product for an enterprise-class product
company.
• Must have industry experience in developing distributed systems,
multithreaded servers, systems programming.
• Must have industry-based development experience in one or more of the
following languages/environments: Java, Intellij (Eclipse, JBuilder or similar
Java IDE), C/C++, Cygwin, Visual Studio. Experience w/ other object-oriented
languages and environments will be considered, but are less desirable.
• Strongly Prefer experience in developing network-focused software (NMS
systems, Network device configuration management systems, SNMP consoles, etc.)
• Prefer experience in developing security-focused software product
development organizations (vulnerability assessment systems, traffic sniffers,
port scanners, etc.)
• Prefer experience in one or more of the following areas: lexer/grammar
based parsers, RDBMS (SQL, JDBC), XML, SOAP, application server frameworks,
graph analysis algorithms
• Platform Knowledge:, Linux, BSD, Solaris, and other flavors of Unix,
and Windows
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, excellent time
management
• Proven ability in problem-analysis and problem-solving
Education Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or related field
MS in Computer Science or related field a plus
