Salary Range: $45,632 - $108,044 + Excellent Comprehensive Benefits Package

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
This position will report to the Assistant Commissioner, IT Security, to assist 
in the management and direction of a team of IT Security professionals. 
Responsibilities will include: 
- Project management, managing the internal change process for the IT Security 
team  
- Managing and following up on problem resolution  
- Managing the relationship with our managed services provider, providing 
security design assistance to other operational units of the agency, as well as 
performing technical duties as necessary to the flow of operation security 
changes.
- The individual selected for this position will be an integral part of our 
Computer Emergency Response Team and play a key role in responding to cyber 
attacks on the infrastructure of the City of New York. 

* Must be available to work various shifts, such as weekends and/or evenings 
and may be required to be on call to support a 24x7x365 technical operation. 
Ability to work overtime may also be required. *


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Ability to manage projects using MS Project, hands on experience with one or 
more firewall platforms (Checkpoint and/or PIX)  
- Supporting a remote access client base (dialup, IP SEC and SSL VPN)  
- Unix operating systems and open source tools  
- Familiarity with cryptography and/or Open SSL  
- Understanding of the OSI network model through the application layer 
- Experience with vulnerability scans and assessments  
- Expertise in the risks of deploying a wireless computing environment is a 
plus, as is experience in the deployment of identity management and directory 
solutions.

CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's Degree in computer science from an accredited college and three 
years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience 
using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications 
programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data 
telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing, 
at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, 
managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications 
programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data 
telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or 
in the supervision of staff performing these duties, -OR-
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as 
described above -OR-
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of 
experience as described above, -OR-
Education and experience equivalent to the above. However, all candidates must 
have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent and must possess at least 
three years experience as described above, including the 18 months of 
administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described 
above.

NOTE: The following types of experience are NOT acceptable  superficial use of 
preprogrammed software without complex programming, design, implementation or 
management of the product  use of word processing packages  use of a hand held 
calculator  primarily the entering or updating of data in a system  the 
operation of data processing hardware or consoles.
