Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: Alexandria, Virginia, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 03/26/2005
Tasks will include the management, development and deployment of a Security
Information Management system for a major federal agency.
Responsibilities include determining and implementing procedures necessary to
ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from
intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
May be involved with databases, networks, stand-alone microcomputers,
mainframes, or minicomputers
Position must interface with the user community to understand their security
needs and implements procedures to provide support.
Ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures
to maintain security.
Conducts evaluation of the level of security provided.
Ensures agency security audit data compliance.
Assists in the development of policy and accreditation roadmaps.
Advises on compliance with federal security directives
JOB REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for an individual with experience as an information security
engineer. For security engineer candidates the following is required.
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP protocol family and OSI layers
Significant experience (8 years of verifiable hands on experience) with any 2
of the following:
ISS RealSecure IDS
SourceFire/Snort IDS
ArcSight
Checkpoint Firewalls
Perl/shell scripting
Linux/Solaris operating system
Kiwi Syslog Daemon
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math,
Physics, or other engineering related discipline.
There are no certifications required for this position but the following are
desirable:
- CISSP
- CCNP
- CCDP
- CSSP
- CCNA
- GIAC
- GSEC
