Network Consulting Engineer / Architect
Salary 50k-70k sterling + 15/40%bonus/car/pen/options
Candidates must be able to travel the Heathrow,London office and be reasonable
moblie.
No relocation allowance offered
Advisory Services is the consulting team that is the connection between IBSG
and Advanced Services. IBSG develops the strategy for the client, Advisory
Services articulates the technology vision toward implementation of the vision
using business process re-engineering, change management, application knowledge
and networking technology expertise to design and engineer business solutions.
Advisory Services is migrating to a vertical focus, with a priority on
financial services, retail, manufacturing, and health care industries.
We are offering the team extensive training on industry verticals, the
opportunity to learn about network centric applications, development in the
consulting industry, and the ability to be part of a entrepreneurial team that
is leading Network Transformation Services. Supports delivery of service
program to major accounts. Performs analysis and diagnosis of complex
networking problems. Performs analysis of complex network designs. Builds
simulated networks in test labs to resolve complex problems and compatibility
issues.
Generates reusable Intellectual Capital in the form of standard customer
deliverables. Leverages and contributes to Virtual Teams. Questions ways of
working and suggests improvements. Provides remote or onsite deployment
support. The Network Consulting Engineer / Architect may perform any of the
following components of the role breakdown depending on specific engagements:
Transactional Projects Project Engineering role: Generates standard project
documentation including detailed test plan for complex networks. Generates
network configurations from Low Level Design for complex networks. Executes all
phases of project delivery including network staging, implementation and
handover. Supports pre-sales activity for complex networks. Plans and executes
complex Network transformation and Network Migration activity. Where
appropriate, supervises and mentors partner delivery teams and less experience
engineers. Creates high level implementation plans. Facilitates design
workshop. Doc
uments or reviews network requirements and High Level Design. Documents or
reviews Low Level Design. Reviews Implementation Plans.
Proactive Service & Support: Produces architectural network designs for
large-scale networks. Assists customer with deployment of complex network tools
and related Network Management Systems. Reviews network requirements and High
Level Design. Reviews Low Level Design. Reviews Implementation/ Change
Management Plans. Plans and executes complex Network Upgrade and Network
Migration activity.
Owns customer account/s proactive Service & Support: Analyses and resolves
complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies. Acts as
a technical focal point for large account network change resolution. Advanced
Services Technology Specialization Teams: Leverages and generates applicable
technical best practices white papers for non core technologies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

10 years experience network systems and broad understanding of end to end
design and architecture. Strong support experience : Expert level knowledge in
TWO of the following and strong knowledge in all other areas of:
IP internetworking (IPv4, IPv6)
Datacenter Architecture
LAN Switching (STP, MPLS vrf-Lite)
Security Architecture (BS7799, Systems/Network Security)
Voice technologies, IP Telephony, IPCC
Storage Networks (SRDF, FCIP, iSCSI)
Application and Content Network Services
Optical transport (Metro, LongHaul)
Wireless (Mobile, WiFi)
WAN (MPLS, L2TPv3, VPLS).
IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
Knowledgeable of consultative model deliverables and expectations. Be able to
articulate value-add to customer. Leading edge technology design assistance for
primary accounts. Cross-functional contribution and impact with development
engineering on product development and serviceability design.
PREFERRED CCIE
Typically requires BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 6-8 years
experience in network engineering or telecommunications support environment.
Advanced degree strongly preferred.
