Sourcefire, founded in 2001 by the original creators of the open-source Snort 
Intrusion Detection System (IDS), the industry's most widely deployed IDS, is 
looking for a Level II Technical Support Engineer to join our Tech Support team 
at our Columbia, Maryland, headquarters.  You must have extensive experience in 
supporting TCP/IP networking and Linux. 

The Level II Technical Support Engineer is expected to troubleshoot and 
diagnose complex software problems and to interface with Sourcefire's product 
development team to provide solutions to the customer. Other duties also 
include Knowledge base maintenence, software testing, and internal training.

The compensation for this position includes a generous base as well as bonuses 
for on-call and achievement of group goals.  Sourcefire also offers has a very

JOB REQUIREMENTS

willing to learn new skills.  Experience with the fasted paced startups is 
highly desired.

Qualifications:

1. Strong troubleshooting skills.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Strong customer service skills
4. Strong organizational skills
5. Strong networking background.
6. Experience with protocol analysis and network traffic analysis.
7. General Unix/Linux fundamentals
8. Self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative and accomplish 
tasks
9. Experience with Snort and MySQL a plus
10. 4 to 7 years of experience in technical support, network administration, 
and security.
