Position:       Security Engineer
Location:       Washington, District of Columbia, US
Type:           Permanent F/T
Closing Date:   02/15/2005

Serves as the technical lead to architect, deploy, and administer cyber 
security related solutions.  Oversees Intrusion Detection Systems, Event 
Management Systems, and other cyber security related systems.  Also requires 
experience with policy development to support certification and accreditation 
(C&A) programs for a Federal Government customer. 

Incumbent will be responsible for the proper functioning, maintenance, and 
deployments of Intrusion Detection Systems, VPN components, event management 
systems, and the security architecture regarding those systems.  Will also 
provide some IDS monitoring and policy tuning as well as have a sound 
understanding of networking and computer security technologies. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to understand and compile 
technical and administrative security plans, policies, and guidelines according 
to Federal and Intelligence Community certification and accreditation 
processes, as well as the ability to collect and translate information security 
requirements into system security documentation. The candidate must demonstrate 
ability to coordinate with customer engineers, administrators and management to 
describe and evaluate standard security practices. 





JOB REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated technical familiarity with Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, 
Firewalls, TCP/IP, Security (SSH, SSL, IPSec), ISS RealSecure SiteProtector, 
Enterasys Dragon IDS, and Snort IDS, Event Management Tools (NetIQ, 
e-Security), UNIX (Linux, Solaris), VPN technologies, and Cisco IOS. Strong 
technical, writing and presentation skills are required. 
B.S. degree in computer science or a related technical field of study or 
demonstrable equivalent job experience  a minimum of three years applied 
experience in security engineering is required. Certification as a Certified 
Information System Security Professional (CISSP) is desirable. U.S. citizenship 
required  the candidate may be subject to a security investigation and may need 
to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. TS or Q 
clearance highly desirable.  Work location: DC. Some travel may be required.
