Technical Partner Product Manager.

Position Description:

The Technical Partner Product Manager will own and manage the development of 
ArcSightâs technical partner relationships, focusing on the ArcSight 
agent component. In this role, the candidate will own the lifecycle of the 
Agent product line and corresponding technical partnership relationships, from 
creation of business plans to daily management of the release of integrated 
technology (agent releases), driving attainment of product revenue and market 
share goals. The Technical Partner Product Manager will report to the Director 
of Product Management.

Position Responsibilities:

1) Project Management


Manage release of agents and any integration modules (e.g. Tivoli, HP OV, 
Embedded Oracle, Integration with Veritas/Legato)

Coordinates and monitors translation, QA and release criteria, communicates 
status and escalates key risks and issues to executive management

Closely manage throughout the product development life cycle. Identify and 
track issues, risks, dependencies, efficiencies, and critical path objectives


2) Partner Management

Manage relationships with 80+ vendors from a technical standpoint 

Manage and drive joint content development with Partners driven by revenue and 
market opportunity 

Manage acquisition and tracking of partner product for our Development and QA 
Lab 

Project manage partner certifications 

Manage Membership in our developer programs and expose benefits to the 
development team 

Evaluate technical feasibility and estimate cost of future integration to 
determine priority of development projects


3) Product Strategy

Able to identify and quantify market opportunities, prioritized relative to 
other potential opportunities

Develop a clear and compelling business case and product strategy through the 
MRD

Regularly initiates customer interactions and solicits and identifies key 
customer needs that manifest themselves in requirements documents and speedy 
issue resolution

Understand the needs of target customers and translate those needs into 
technical product requirements and provide clear, concise and prioritized 
direction to the Product Development team 

Effectively communicates feature/functionality and system-wide requirements 
(platform, compatibility, human factors/usability, performance, integration, 
reliability, scalability, globalization, third party, upgrade and migration, 
packaging, installation and obsolescence) through the MRD document and issue 
resolution


4) Positioning/Pricing/Market Analysis

Works with Product Marketing on positioning, pricing and packaging

Must know how competitive products are positioned, be able to deliver clearly 
differentiated products, and communicate the superior value of ArcSight 
solutions


5) Product Delivery & Marketing

Must know the technical features and functions of the delivered products and, 
working with Field Marketing, communicate their benefits and value to sales 
personnel and customers   

Must be convincing and commanding in the training and education of field 
personnel including direct and channel account managers, inside sales reps, and 
sales engineers   

Comfortable and compelling in specialty speaking engagements including user 
conferences, trade shows and industry events   

Clear understanding of the sales process and be able to help account managers 
close deals when it is critical that the product owner be involved   

Drives Solution Adoption - Responsible for overall success of solutions in the 
market, which is defined as meeting forecasted revenue goals. 




JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Experience:

Solid technical expertise and ability to dissect security product 
strengths/weaknesses

Ability to quickly learn new technologies and understand how they impact the 
security management market 

An understanding of various technical foundations and significant exposure to 
system development, full product life-cycle methodologies and projects

Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, and experience applying 
these skills to resolve program issues

Strong organization skills 

Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to lead through influencing and 
negotiating. Strong facilitation and coordination skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to travel: 20-30%

Desired Experience:

Experience as a product manager or software architect with a company 
specializing in an associated field such as firewall or security appliances is 
highly desired

Technical knowledge of Windows and UNIX systems and related applications

Proven experience in software product management bringing new offerings to 
market preferred

Experience working with architects, developers, and technical engineers 

Education:

BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
