For more information, visit http://www.websense.com Summary: The QA Manager (Automation & Performance) is responsible for managing all activities of a QA team engaged in but not limited to test planning, execution, functional test automation, and performance testing. In this role, you will provide leadership, direction, expertise, and hands-on assistance to a team of highly technical QA engineers responsible for ensuring the quality of the company’s enterprise applications. As a member of the QA management team, you will work with a variety of groups across multiple disciplines to streamline, integrate, and continuously improve the effectiveness of the QA organization. As a manager you will be responsible for administrating policies for employee development, performance planning and reviews, counseling, and evaluations. Essential Functions: • Develop and execute a functional test automation strategy that delivers substantial ROI and measurable increases in QA efficiency. • Create and execute performance, stress, and benchmarking test strategies that ensure our products meet or exceed performance targets. • Continuously streamline and improve the testing life cycle to ensure test planning, execution, and reporting are effective, agile, and coordinated. • Work closely with development, product management, documentation, and technical support to ensure that the quality objectives of all projects are met within schedule constraints. • Clearly communicate QA results, concerns, and project status to the engineering management team and other stakeholders in a timely manner. • Proactively manage the performance of your team members through coaching, training, rewarding strong performance, and addressing performance issues directly and with fairness if/when they arise. • This position may manage software engineers working within the Quality Assurance department. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Qualifications: • Strong QA methodology, process, and technical leadership. • Past experience with and the ability to lead a highly technical team leveraging advanced QA tools and techniques. • Track record of delivering measurable return on investment (ROI) in the area of functional test automation in addition to hands-on experience with the associated testing tools (preferably Segue SilkTest) • Significant hands-on experience in executing performance and benchmark testing using tools such as Mercury LoadRunner or Segue SilkPerformer. • Recent hands-on skills in software development. • Solid understanding of software programming best practices and principles including data structures, object-oriented design, exception handling, modularity and reuse. • Must excel in a fast-paced, agile environment where critical thinking and strong problem solving skills are required for success. • Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces change. Technology: Must have excellent understanding of many technologies relevant to our product lines, including: • Networking technologies: TCP/IP networking concepts and applications, including HTTP and other internet protocols, as well as socket level programming. • Major User Interface technologies: html, dhtml, JavaScript, php, flash “MX”. • XML technologies: XML, XPath, XSLT, XML Schema, CSS and XSL FO. • Programming Languages: C/C++, Java, Perl, C#, SQL Experience: • Typically at least 6 years experience in the software industry • BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
