Job Summary:
Responsible for configuration management, including (but not limited to):
source code, builds, version control and change management, release
engineering, and knowledge management. Lead and mentor CM team in the
development of processes and work instructions pertaining to configuration
management, change control, and engineering environment tool selection. Is
responsible for leading, championing, and implementing CM best practices
throughout Engineering department.
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for assessing and implementing best of breed Software
Configuration Management processes and tools to meet company’s strategic
business objectives.
• Responsible for planning and prioritizing tasks and workflow to align
with department strategy.
• Optimize and automate Configuration Management processes to increase
department efficiency in support of the Software Development Life Cycle and
Engineering Projects.
• Responsible for creating and managing Configuration Management
software lifecycle and release plans and process.
• Lead the development, training, and maintenance of Configuration
Management processes and work instructions pertaining to version control,
change management, document management, software builds, revision management,
versioning, and release process.
• Work with other Engineering groups in the development and maintenance
of Configuration Management M processes and work instructions.
• Provides technology expertise to the company in the area of
Configuration Management tools and best practices.
• Mentors other staff members in Configuration Management processes and
best practices.
Expectations:
• Performs duties with little supervision.
• Able to identify, automate, and improve workflow processes to increase
efficiency and reliability.
• Able to lead and mentor team members in Configuration Management
processes.
• Able to produce metrics for measuring, tracking and improving
Configuration Management processes and communicating status.
• Provides self-direction in response to changes to requirements and
specifications.
• Takes initiative to expose issues to supervisor.
• Has a broad knowledge of Operating Systems, mainly Unix and Windows.
• Has a broad base of knowledge and understanding of software development
life cycles.
• Follows the departmental and project-specific development standards and
processes.
• Works well in a team environment.
• Has ability to adapt to the changing needs of a project.
• Has strong communications skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to learn.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
Education: BA/BS Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience:
a) 6 years of overall configuration management experience, including the
use of version control software.
b) Ability to lead and mentor team in CM technology and best practices
selection and implementation.
c) Experience in process automation.
d) Knowledge of software lifecycle methodology
e) Familiarity with Linux, Solaris, and Windows operating systems
f) Ability to design and implement various source control branching models
facilitating parallel development.
Desired Skill Set:
• Java, C++, Perl, other Scripting languages.
• Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Microsoft Office.
• Rational Clear Case and Clear Quest
• Enterprise level SCM system implementation and management.
