JOB DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------------------------
Position: Security Engineer
Location: Redmond, Washington, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 02/24/2005

Are you interested in tackling the most challenging security problems facing
our customers today? Our customers want to keep their systems secure and
helping them do that is a key part of our security strategy.

Our team owns delivery of the range of solutions in the security configuration,
assessment and mitigation space, including Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer
(MBSA), Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) for Windows Server 2003, SCE
(Security Configuration Editor for Windows), and future technology addressing
these areas.

We are a fast-moving, growing team. We are aggressively focused on delivering
standalone solutions that address customer pain, while at the same time
building the right, long-term technology and solutions that can be used by
other security-related products and ship in future versions of Windows. We
cover the range from consumer to corporate (small to large organizations),
providing infrastructure as well as end-to-end solutions using both agent-based
& non-agent technologies. In other words, we’re attacking this problem
hard, fast and with every tool at our disposal.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------

We are looking for strong, motivated developers to join our team. If you are
interested in making a significant and visible impact on Microsoft’s
customers, and you have the technical skills and passion for delivering quality
code, then we’re interested in talking with you. As a growing team
building end-to-end solutions, we need developers with a broad array of
experience. Experience working on security-related products or features is a
plus, but it’s more important that you can get excited about security and
the challenges ahead of us. Strong C/C++ or C# programming skill is, of course,
required. It won’t hurt if you have experience with UI, APIs,
client-server architectures, databases and reporting, Windows and/or enterprise
solutions (SQL, Exchange, etc.), or are a fast learner.

Candidates should have two or more years of solid hands-on software development
experience working on commercial software products and be familiar with all
aspects of designing and developing software and have demonstrated the ability
to work within a team and across teams. A BS or higher degree in Computer
Science or related discipline or equivalent experience is also required.
