The Security Configuration, Assessment, and Management team (part of SBTU) is
looking for a strong Development Manager to lead our product development
efforts. The team is chartered with developing Microsoft’s security
management technologies – this encompasses host & network security
scanning (analyzing systems for vulnerabilities), security policy authoring,
deployment, data collection, and analysis. This includes existing solutions
such as the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (downloaded & used by millions
of c
ustomers today), Group Policy-based security configuration, and Security
Configuration Wizard for roles-based security lockdown that ships in Windows
Server 2003 SP1. Going forward, we are building on these solutions & developing
new platform technologies that will ship in Windows, as well as a new security
management product that we charge for. The platform technologies will be
leveraged by partners such as A1, Network Access Protection, and SMS, who need
to incorporate security management functionality into their solutions (e.g.,
validating a machine’s security health before allowing it onto the
corporate network). The security management product will be used by customers
to manage the security technologies coming from Microsoft – Behavior
Blocking (Mako), Anti-Virus, Spyware, Host Firewall & IDS, etc. This is a new
business that Microsoft is entering & there is a big opportunity for setting
strategic and architectural direction that will have a major impact on o
ur success in this space.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates will have 10 or more years of experience, at least five of
which must be in a development lead or manager role. You should have a
demonstrated track record of building strong teams. Strong communication skills
are essential as there is significant cross-group work and you will called upon
to lead and drive executive project & design reviews. Candidates should have a
passion for engineering excellence and working effectively with PM and test
organizations to drive great process & execution across the team. Experience
shipping platform technologies (ideally in Windows) and server products is a
plus. A Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science / Engineering is required.
