Security/IDS Researcher Engineer

Duties:
This mid-to-senior level software engineer and professional security analyst 
works as a member of the Intrusion Detection Response Team . The role of this 
dynamic position is to be both a software developer and security analyst. 

The incumbent will have the following responsibilities: 
(1.) Providing timely technical support to the Customer Response Team function, 
including but not limited to: comparing traffic artifacts with the detection 
code and various external resources like RFCs to determine whether an alert is 
accurate. 
(2.) Provide research support to the development process yielding new detection 
methods for interesting traffic, which includes but is not limited to: 
exploits, vulnerabilities and anomalies, in support of all the client’s 
security products which include an Intrusion Detection/Prevention component. 
(3.) Investigate reported software defects, troubleshoot, implement and unit 
test timely solutions that benefit customers. 
(4.) Serve as a reviewer/second opinion for peer research and code developed 
for intrusion detection, which an emphasis on accuracy and performance. 
(5) Document the characteristics of detected threats to support the delivery of 
useful, original descriptive content to the client’s customers. This 
content may be published within a product, as an external product reference, as 
a white paper or as a response to a direct customer question.  



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

The Security/IDS Researcher Engineer must be action-oriented  have the ability 
to work with minimum supervision and set priorities  posses strong problem 
solving and troubleshooting skills  excellent written and verbal communication 
skills. The Sr. Software Engineer must be fluent in networking, traffic 
analysis, packet decomposition, scripting, C/C++, Internet protocols, and 
vulnerability exploitation techniques. 4-6 years experience working with 
intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, vulnerability assessment, or 
development  Master's degree preferred, but exceptional candidates with 
significant relevant experience will be considered.
