Position: Database Security Engineer
Location: Princeton, New Jersey, US

Database Security Engineer
Location: Princeton, NJ (local NJ candidates preferred.)
Base compensation: to $90K
My client is searching for a Database Security Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that security compliance
and configuration standards are in place in multiple database environments
across the organization. To accomplish this goal, the candidate will utilize
best practices and standards guidelines to configure, document and continually
improve the organization’s database security strategy.
This is not a DBA role, it is a dedicated security role requiring security
engineering experience as well as the ability to interface heavily with the
database engineering team, other technology teams, business units and executive
management. This person will essentially act as the security “eyes and
ears” of the database platform engineering team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Functional Responsibilities:
Research, develop and apply business-relevant security standards to database
platforms. This is in the form of policy as well as actual tools and controls.
Interface with key stakeholders to determine business requirements in an effort
to tailor solutions that balance security with business functionality.
Act as an internal SME/consultant regarding database security issues.
Evaluate, implement and manage related security tools.
Exposure to Symantec’s SIM tool a strong plus.
Platform Exposure:
Exposure to at least two of the following is required. Sybase and DB2
experience a strong plus.
Sybase
SQL
Oracle
DB2
Educational Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a BA or BS, with 3 to 5 plus years of
experience. Knowledge desired includes, Information Security and Risk
Management principles, understanding of network technology, awareness of
technology trends, human and organizational behavior dynamics. Other experience
desired includes project planning and project management, requirement
documentation, and client relationship management.
