Position: Sr. Product Manager
Location: Alexandria, Virginia, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 01/14/2005
Driving the professional services offerings life cycle, from planning through
launch and sales support, with particular focus on enabling customers to reach
their business objectives with Symantec products and on leveraging Symantec's
marketing and field sales resources to expand the services business. The PM
Solutions Enablement is responsible for strategic and tactical activities
required to define, launch and support Solutions Enablement offerings. Specific
responsibilities include: Continuously engaging stakeholders including Product
Delivery, Service Development, Consulting and Education Services management,
Product Marketing, Global Marketing and Sales from opportunity summery through
service launch to drive the successful creation and integration of product
enablement services with product launches. Researching and analyzing customer
needs, market demand and market trends in order to collect and verify
requirements and understand market characteristics. The Sr. PM seek
s to implement the value propositions of future generations of Symantec
products via services offerings that enhance or enable current product
offerings. Researching and analyzing the competitive landscape. Creating
product and solutions enablement business cases. Creating and/or driving the
creation of sales tools, white papers, customer presentations and other
collateral. Training Sales and other internal and external stakeholders on
consulting and education offerings, capabilities, value propositions and
differentiators. Working with stakeholders to analyze strategic and channel
partner investment and effectiveness in enabling Symantec products and
developing partnerships as necessary to support delivery capability or drive
revenue. Evangelizing consulting and education offerings and capabilities with
internal stakeholders, customers and analysts. Maintaining an understanding of
a broad range of Symantec's security and/or EA solutions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

6-8 years of experience in product management and/or IT consulting and IT
consulting management. Product management experience is required and prior
experience in information security product management is preferred. Must be a
highly flexible self-starter who is comfortable under deadlines. Must thrive
and enjoy working in a matrixed environment. Proven analytic and teaming skills
and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. *Symantec
