Position: Chief Scientist
Location: San Francisco, California, US

Chief Scientist
A venture-backed software startup led by veteran entrepreneurs, which is
building out its product team to develop next generation anti-spam
technologies.
Company is seeking candidates who have full product lifecycle experience
developing and releasing multiple commercial applications on the Windows, Linux
or Solaris platforms. They will have a comprehensive knowledge of software
quality engineering practices, excellent test automation skills and will be
able to articulate their individual contribution to projects on which they have
worked.
Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic and an eager desire to learn new
skills. They will be passionate about their work and be motivated by the
opportunity to build great products that solve real problems for a large
customer base. They will be hands-on people who value team and individual
contributions. They will understand that their contributions are fully realized
by the public release of high quality products.
Responsibilities
• Take a leadership role in defining the technical strategy for the
company.
• Research new technologies applicable to company's business objectives.
• Evaluate and prototype technology for integration into company’s
product line.
• Plan and oversee the integration of new technology into relevant
product lines, providing impact studies and risk assessment.
• Analyze and address system performance relative to spam variants.
• Represent company at relevant industry technical forums, including
authoring and presenting papers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
• Expert level knowledge of the following technologies: internet*
networking and mail systems, major current operating systems, natural language
processing, statistical analysis, cryptography, text categorization, trust and
reputation systems, genetic algorithms, relational databases.
• Expert knowledge of email spam techniques.
• Significant public speaking experience in relevant technical areas.
• Considered an industry expert in email and spam.
• Published technical author in recognized industry journals.
• Expert in designing and implementing scalable, self-organizing systems.
• Proven experience shipping high quality product that has received
industry recognition.
• Expert knowledge of C++ and Perl (excess of 8+ years experience).
