Position: Quality Assurance
Location: San Francisco, California, US
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 12/10/2004
A fast-growing, funded software startup led by veteran entrepreneurs, is
building out its team to handle the huge demand for its new anti-spam
solutions.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in specifying,
implementing, and maintaining functional and integration test plans in a
commercial software environment. This position will contribute to the quality
of company's service and the candidate must be highly organized and possess a
strong analytical and structured approach to problem solving and testing. The
service is 24x7 and the successful applicant must demonstrate experience
working in QA environments for highly available systems and/or massively
distributed consumer products. As a senior member of the QA team the successful
candidate will be able to document and design the QA testing framework.

Responsibilities
• Thoroughly execute Product and Integration Test Plans, raise fully
qualified bugs found in testing and produce timely test reports.
• Identify and develop system auotmation test scripts to enhance
efficiency of product testing.
• Responsible for enhancing and implementing test plans defined and
created by Senior Quality engineers, diagnosing test failures and producing
test reports.
• Continuously and proactively look for ways to improve the product
tesing processes and procedures through appropriate test design and use of
tools.
• Assist in the production of effective documentation and test
specifications that can be used both internally and externally.
• Responsible for the testing and review of product installation and
guides/manuals.
• Customer Facing - communicate and gather test requirements from
customer feedback
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
• Has Strong UNIX/Linux, Windows and networking skills, MSSQL, and a deep
understanding of C/C++ and Perl.
• Experience with enterprise software and service based offerings.
• Good and proven problem solving skills.
• Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, within the team and
across departmental teams.
• Good Team player - recognizes and contributes to the value and quality
of the team's deliverables.
• Requires minimal direction or supervision on assigned projects.
• Proven ability to learn new technologies independently.
• Professional and organized in their approach to the tasks set and able
to complete independently, on time and to budget.
• Self motivated / starter
• Takes responsibility and is prepared to take ownership of assigned
tasks
• At least four years experience in software testing, excellent
organizational skills.
• A BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.
Desired skills
• Extensive experience with client/server or peer-to-peer applications
highly recommended.
• Advanced UNIX/Linux administration skills.
