Position: Security Engineer
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 10/22/2004
Leads operational security initiatives for securing, investigating,
documenting, and architecting the network, including the following:
* Developing and implementing Security Architecture Designs
* Performing forensics activities for security related incidents and
investigations carried out on the systems
* Planning for Continuity of Operations and leading operational security
aspects of Disaster Recovery testing at off-site facilities.
* Performing security scans of new and existing systems.
* Researching system security issues and topics and preparing "white
papers.”
* Design, implement, and operate file and system integrity tools
* Manage patching and vulnerability remediation activities
* Maintain system security logs and document security-related changes to the
systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* BS in Computer Science or related field.
* 10+ years information technology experience
* 5+ years information security experience
* Incident response and disaster recovery experience
* Experience performing security and risk assessments
* In depth knowledge and skills in information security equipment to include
use and configuration of vulnerability assessment tools, intrusion detection
systems, and firewalls.
* Experience with multiple operating systems, including Windows, Unix, and
Linux.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work well with people in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* CISSP, CISM, or GIAC Certification
* Information System Security Federal knowledge and experience, preferably in
DOT arena
* Solid understanding of the build procedures and patching processes for
Windows, Unix, and Linux environments
* Significant experience with developing and implementing network security
architectures
* Solid understanding of the security architecture for multiple operating
systems.
* Experience with vulnerability scanning systems
* Experience with firewalls, switches, and routers
