Firewall/Intrusion Detection System Team Lead

Major Purpose:
As the Team Lead for the Firewall and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) team,
you will be responsible for leading efforts to designing and implement the
technology that secures the corporation. Duties include coaching, mentoring,
and growing team members. The Team Lead participates in the development of
technology strategies, procedures, standards, and then implements them. You
will be responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure meets performance and
availability service levels, and building and maintaining a World Class
Enterprise Security Team.
Major Responsibilities:
 Lead Firewall and IDS activities.
 Supervise team members.
 Recruit and hire employees and consultants
 Using performance excellence tools, develop, monitor and assess
individual staff performance and provide timely feedback to promote team
effectiveness.
 Manage day-to-day activities of team members, including maintenance,
support and technical project work to ensure performance objectives and project
deliverables are met.
 Implement and be responsible for the implementation of technology.
 Collaborates with other teams as necessary to ensure customer service
levels are met.
 Execute defined Enterprise System strategies by aligning resources to
support corporate initiatives.
Technical Responsibilities:
 Provide technical leadership, management and direction to ensure that
security objectives to meet service level agreements or performance objectives.
 Lead and manage the team in the selection of vendors or tools and
provide input to Group Manager to support supplier management efforts.
 Partner with and give feedback to vendors to ensure that SLA’s or
performance objectives are met.
 Use industry best practices to manage operations at the lowest cost
and improve operations performance.
 Hands on technical responsibilities for implementing Firewall and IDS
solutions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
 College or technical education preferred or equivalent related
experience
 5-10 years Firewall and Intrusion Detection System experience.
 3 – 5 years experience in a technical role as a team lead
responsible for the following:
1. Developing and managing technical teams ranging in size from 3 to 10
individuals
2. Managing budgets ranging in size from $1M to $18M.
3. Workload prioritization experience
4. Managing large projects or programs
5 years experience with Checkpoint Firewall-1
 Experience with Checkpoint Firewall-1 with Application Intelligence
 3 years experience with Nokia Firewall Hardware and Nokia IPSO Software
 Experience with Nokia High Availability Cluster Configuration, and
High Performance and Service Level Agreements required.
 Expert level understanding of TCP/IP and networking.
 Expert level understanding of UNIX, Solaris preferred
 Expert level understanding of Microsoft Windows 2000
 Expert level understanding of VRRP
 Solid understanding of Cisco IOS
 Solid understanding of standard business processes including Change
Management, Problem Management, Work Prioritization, Quality Assurance and
Continuous Improvement best practices etc.
 Strong client relationship management skills.
 Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 Strong verbal and written communication skills.
 Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
 Viewed as having strong leadership ability and management experience.
 Occasional travel required.
 On-call 7x24.
