Position: Sales Engineer
Type: Permanent F/T

Pre-Sales System Engineer
The System Engineer performs the following function: technical pre-sales
support for Symantec’s family of software products.
The System Engineer will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to
develop and position solutions involving Symantec’s products.
Presentations and conference call discussions are a critical part of this
position. During the qualifying process, confirm that Symantec’s products
meet the prospect’s requirements and assist sales in technical
qualification. Throughout the proposal process, articulate and demonstrate
Symantec solutions, influence customer’s technical requirements, and
position products relative to competition. Be responsible for all of the
technical aspects of proposals. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

The System Engineer must have an in-depth knowledge of one of the following
Operating Systems: UNIX, NT, Netware or Windows 2000. The engineer must work
toward attaining knowledge of the other Operating Systems.
The System Engineer must obtain a presentation-ready knowledge of all Symantec
products. Must work towards being able to install and demonstrate any product
set defined by their manager. The System Engineer must also obtain a product
expertise (expertise categories as defined by Symantec product marketing) as
assigned by their manager. Working closely with assigned sales personnel, the
SE is Responsible for the technical aspects of the sale during the entire sales
cycle and is often involved with the client post purchase.
The System Engineer must present a professional appearance and demeanor,
possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to relate to a wide range of
technical staff and managers in customer environments. Engineers need
excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively participate in
the sales cycle and to prepare deliverables.
