Position Summary:
As the market leader in encryption software, PC Guardian is currently searching
for a Senior Software Design Engineer in our San Rafael office. We develop,
market and sell encryption software for business and personal computers and
laptops. Our clients are Fortune 500 companies nationally and internationally.
The Senior Software Design Engineer studies requirements and designs
specifications using the best software development practices and methodologies,
together with block diagrams, control, data and logic flow charts and other
supporting documents. Responsible for the design of applications, deployment
methods and management of applications targeted at large user base within large
enterprise organizations.
Major Duties:
Prepares required documentation including project plans, software program and
use documentation.
Shares responsibility with Product Managers for requirements management,
architectural software design, implementation and management of functional and
programming specification engineering and writing, user interface design.
Provides technical directions to staff, provides functional guidance,
technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control.
Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization
and planning and develops appropriate corrective action
Ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met through active
involvement with Software Product Management and Development Committee.
Manages cross-functional groups to resolve technical issues, including
project managers, programmers, quality assurance, technical support and
engineering, from initial issue identification through to verifying the
delivery of a working solution.
Manages and provides technical leadership in the development of software using

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
Ability to clearly write software specifications and supporting
documentation by implementing the best practices such that software programmers
can immediately implement and QA can begin preparing test plans.
Detailed knowledge and proven experience with software requirements
engineering, formal specification writing, and user interface.
Comprehensive understanding of software design and development
methodologies and practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks involving many stakeholders
including customers, management, program engineers and testing.
Proven understanding of the IT environment, particularly within large
enterprise organizations. Strong understanding of program methodologies and
techniques, possesses knowledge of state-of-the-art software development
systems.
Experience with high-level programming and/or scripting languages, C/C++ in
MSVC++ environment is a plus.
Experience with Web applications, XML, XSLT, Java, JavaScript, database and
Internet security is desirable. GUI experience is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education:
BS in computer science or equivalent experience in information systems,
software engineering, user interface design or a similar discipline.
