Position: Security Architect
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 10/17/2004
Top Layer Networks is searching for a System Architect who will work with our
Architecture Team to drive the specification/implementation of a new system
module including the architecture for the hardware and system software. This
new module must integrate into Top Layer’s existing high-speed intrusion
prevention system and will be used to expand the capability of the platform to
perform high-speed network traffic security analysis. In addition to running
software written by Top Layer, this module must also provide a high-speed
processing environment for software provided by external partners.
The individual in this role will be involved in the analysis, design,
integration, implementation and testing of the hardware and system software.
Specifically, the System Architect will be responsible for developing detailed
product and architecture specifications and collaborate with other members of
the engineering team to define system specifications, input/output processes
and working parameters. Other responsibilities will be to conduct technical
investigations of system design, analyze and resolve difficult and complicated
program support deficiencies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
· Knowledge of embedded system software
development
· Experience with real-time software design
· Familiar with modeling the interrelationships
between internal and external components
· Skilled in using multiple languages and
operating systems
· Detailed knowledge of high speed processing
architectures (Pentium, PPC)
· Thorough understanding of network and
application protocol operation (TCP/IP, file,
web, transaction, peer-to-peer, and streaming
media)
· A background in network security topics such as
vulnerability exploits, anti-virus, VPNS and
cryptography
APTITUDE & EDUCATION:
· Outstanding written and oral communication skills
· Excellent attention to detail
· 5 - 7 years of system engineering/software
systems engineering experience in developing
new and integrating existing systems
· Ability to analyze high level needs and through
a structured and logical approach refine the
need into an integrated set of hardware and
software
· Goal driven and able to work independently
within a team environment
· BS/MS degree (CS, CE or EE preferred)
