Visiting Security Engineer
Overview:
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of 
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a highly talented professional to evaluate, 
design, integrate, and develop state-of-the-art computer security systems. 

In this dynamic role, the selected candidate will: 

* Develop requirements for security systems/software for NCSA and external 
partners. 
* Evaluate and Develop security systems/software against specified 
requirements. 
* Integrate and enhance security systems/software to meet operational 
requirements. 
* Initiate ideas for new development directions and demonstrate realistic 
designs for development. 
* Write and present technical papers covering research and development 
activities. 
* Represent NCSA in the national community. 
* Perform software engineering tasks, including tracking milestones, making 
software releases, developing and executing performance evaluation and 
functional test suites, scheduling tasks, writing documentation, and reporting 
to the technical program manager. 
* Provide training, guidance, and assistance to less senior staff. 



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
The professional we seek will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a technical 
field (Master’s degree in Computer Security preferred) and proven 
experience with software design and implementation. Excellent programming 
skills and a solid understanding of computer security, networking, and 
operating system concepts are also essential. Familiarity with software-define 
radio technologies and/or the development of authorization and access-control 
systems is desired, but not required. 

This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-time 
appointment with regular University benefits. Salary commensurate with 
experience. Starting date as soon as possible after the closing date of the 
search. This position may become regular at a later date.
