Position: Security Consultant
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 09/26/2004
Symantec Security Consultants are responsible for installing, configuring and
administering firewall, and IDS systems, ensuring all customer devices work and
are correctly returning data to the MSS Security Operations Center and allowing
the MSS Security Analysts to monitor customer systems. Each engineer will
typically be responsible for multiple customers and must be proficient in
multiple products such as Checkpoint, Cisco, Manhunt, Watchguard, Symantec,
etc.
This position will manage of team of 4-5 Security Engineers within a CERT
environemnt. Other responsibilities include: Train and mentor newly hired
Security Engineers on SOC procedures and policies, define the standard for
expertise and operational knowledge in the SOC, developing new and verifying
existing training materials are up to date and contain current operational
processes and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
5-8 years of overall technical experience. Demonstrated success in managing
complex technical projects from the planning phase through completion of the
implementation phase. Proficient with the following: Dragon IDS, Checkpoint
Fw-1/VPN-1, Symantec Enterprise Firewall, Nokia IPSO, NetScreen Firewall, Cisco
Pix, Real Secure IDS, SGS Firewall, ManHunt IDS, Windows /2000 configuration
and Linux/Unix configuration. Ability/experience to solve technical issues with
customers and partners. B.S. in tech field or equivalent combination of
education, training & work experience.
Preferred Certifications Completed: MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCSA, CCSE, NCSA.
