I usually use TrueCrypt whenever I want to encrypt something on a pendrive, but the problem is that you need to have TrueCrypt installed on any computer that you want to access the encrypted files on. Does anyone know of a free portable encryption solution? -- Razi On 3/28/08, Shreyas Zare <shreyas@technitium.com> wrote:
Hi,
I have seen some articles that crack the security mechanisms on pen
drives and even on hard drives of some manufacturers. Sometimes the
encryption the manufacturer talks about is just XOR and is just
useless. Also, some dont encrypt data at all, they just rely on some
locking mechanism to restrict access. It is always best to use
software like TrueCrypt instead of relying on some manufacturer's non
standard security mechanisms. And even if you want to use some pen
drive with such security, research before relying on it.
